DiscoTorch Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 14, 2026
AI Apps ("we", "us", or "our") develops DiscoTorch (package id com.aiapps.torch.torch), a music-reactive flashlight app for mobile devices (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
The short version: DiscoTorch has no server and no account. It listens to ambient audio through your microphone purely to detect the beat in real time, and that audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere — not to us, not to any third party. The App is ad-supported: the only outside service it talks to is Google AdMob, to show ads. See Advertising & Google AdMob below for exactly what that involves.
1. Information we collect
We do not require an account. The App does not ask for your name, email address, or password, and we do not knowingly collect any information that directly identifies you. We have no server of our own, so nothing below is ever sent to us specifically — the one exception is our ad partner, described below.
- Microphone audio.Beat Sync, Bass Pulse, and Volume Reactive modes listen to ambient audio through your device’s microphone to detect the beat. This audio is analyzed live, entirely on your device, and is never recorded, saved to a file, or transmitted anywhere. Nothing about what the App hears ever leaves your phone.
- App settings. Your chosen mode, sensitivity, and brightness preferences are stored locally on your device so the App remembers them between sessions. We never see this data.
- Advertising and device identifiers, collected by our ad partner. The App displays ads served by Google AdMob, which may automatically collect your device’s advertising identifier, general device information, IP address, and approximate location to show relevant ads. See Advertising & Google AdMob below.
- Basic technical data. If you contact us by email for support, we receive whatever personal information you choose to include in that message.
2. How we use information
Microphone audio is used for exactly one purpose — detecting the beat, bass energy, or volume to drive the flashlight in real time — and for nothing else. It is never used to serve ads, and never leaves your device. Advertising identifiers collected by AdMob are used only to show and measure ads. We do not sell your information, and the App has no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of its own.
3. Camera and flashlight access
DiscoTorchdoes not request or use camera access. Controlling the flashlight goes through your device’s flash-only torch APIs (not the camera itself), which do not require a camera permission — Android’s CameraManager.setTorchMode and iOS’s AVCaptureDevice.torchMode. The App never captures a photo, video, or any camera frame.
4. Advertising & Google AdMob
DiscoTorchis ad-supported and shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may automatically collect your device’s advertising identifier, general device information, IP address, and approximate location to show and measure ads. This is the only third-party service the App uses, and the only reason it makes any network request at all — beat detection itself is entirely offline.
Google’s own data practices for AdMob are described in the Google Privacy Policy and Google’s EU User Consent Policy.
5. Your ad choices
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads, to reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads.
- iOS:Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, to decline or change your tracking choice at any time.
- You can also review ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
6. Data safety at a glance
| Data type | Collected | Shared with | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microphone audio | Processed on-device only, in real time — never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere | Nobody | Detecting the beat/bass/volume to sync the flashlight |
| App settings (mode, sensitivity, brightness) | Yes, stored locally on your device | Nobody | Remembering your preferences between sessions |
| Camera / flashlight | Not accessed as a camera — only the flash-only torch API is used | Nobody | Turning the flashlight on/off in sync with detected audio |
| Advertising & device identifiers | Yes — collected automatically by Google AdMob | Google AdMob (our ad partner) | Showing ads, and basic ad performance/fraud prevention |
| Name, email, account info | Not collected — the App has no account system of any kind | — | — |
7. Permissions the App requests
- Microphone. Used by Beat Sync, Bass Pulse, and Volume Reactive modes to detect the beat in real time (see above). Requested contextually the first time you start one of those modes, with an in-app explanation shown before the OS prompt. The manual Strobe mode does not need this permission at all.
- Internet. Required by the Google AdMob SDK to request and display ads. Beat detection itself never uses this permission — it runs entirely offline.
The App does not request camera, location, contacts, storage, or notifications access.
8. Subscriptions & payment
DiscoTorch does not currently offer any in-app purchases or subscriptions, and includes no payment or billing SDK.
9. Delete your data
Your locally stored settings are never sent to us in the first place — uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage in your device settings, erases them immediately and completely. Microphone audio is never stored anywhere; it is analyzed frame by frame and discarded immediately, on-device.
The only data associated with you that exists outside your device is the advertising identifier Google AdMob collects to show ads. We don’t hold or control that data ourselves, so we can’t delete it on your behalf — see Your ad choices above for how to reset or opt out of it directly, and Google’s own retention practices linked there.
For any other question about your data, email rpapps25@gmail.com.
10. Children’s privacy
DiscoTorch is designed for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 — the App has no mechanism to collect personal information from any user. If you have a concern, contact us at rpapps25@gmail.com.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information. Because DiscoTorch has no account system and holds nothing about you on a server of our own, the only outside data tied to your device is the advertising identifier AdMob collects — see Delete your data above for how to reset or opt out of it. For any other question, email us at rpapps25@gmail.com.
12. Security
Your locally stored settings are protected by the security protections provided by your device’s operating system. Beat detection itself makes no network request of any kind. Ad requests to Google AdMob are made over an encrypted connection, and we rely on Google’s own security practices for anything processed on their side.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the revised policy.
